Boston Terriers 101
All the reasons we own a Boston. After our experience with our beloved Gleska and now our Lilly, Bostons will always be apart of my family's life. My children talk about the day when they strike out on their own and get their own Bostons. They are hands down the best small breed for kids. They have become wildly popular since we got Gleska almost 17 years ago. There is a good reason for that! We love them, and always will.

Spring is in the Air
Spring is in the air, and we couldn't be more ready for it. The buds are popping up on all the trees. Our temps have been so nice, that we have been spending every moment we can outside before the evening chill comes. We've grilled out, gone on hikes, and visited our local nature center. The kids love wearing their tees, shorts, and flip~flops. I love spring in Missouri.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
I hope everyone had a fun and safe St. Pat's. We didn't get to go to the parade today:( McKenna's book club had a field trip today to UCM. They participated in the Children's Literature Festival, and had a chance to meet several children's authors and illustrators. McKenna real did enjoy herself at the festival. The writers held sessions, where they discussed their work. This was a real thrill for McKenna. She real loves to read and write. One of her idols is Beatrix Potter. She always enjoyed her stories, but after seeing the movie based on her life, she truly became a fan. She will spend hours making her books, complete with illustrations. McKenna met Barbara Robinson, the author of "The Best Christmas Pagent Ever". She read one of McKenna's stories, and told her it was very good, and she should keep working on it and maybe have it published someday! What a thrill for Kenni! I hope she sticks with it.
In honor of St. Pat's I am including a cartoon from the 1940's about the Emerald Isle. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Power Tower~ by McKenna Rose
The Power Tower
By McKenna Rose
Here we are on the Power Tower.
I can see everything, it's like I'm in Heaven.
I see the other Power Tower,
And everyone is screaming.
I see my sister holding my hand.
I squeeze her hand as I scream very loud.
Whoosh, down we go...
Whoosh, up we go.
I wanted to get off,
But when I got off,
I wanted to get back on again.
This is a little poem by my 9 year old daughter, McKenna Rose. It is so important to encourage young writers. Thanks so much indulging a proud Mama!

The Kids At Fritz's
I'm back! Mea culpa, mea culpa. To say that I have been super busy would be an understatement. The good news is that I found my Dad's birth family after 67 years! I am going to write about it soon, I just need to wrap my head around the events of the past month first. I feel like I have been walking around in a dream this past month. lol In the meantime I thought I would get caught up on some of the things we have been doing at the end of this winter. Ughh! I can't wait for spring.
Burt, the kids, and I went to lunch at Fritz's recently. Fritz's is a restaurant at Crown Center in KC. It has a train theme, and the kids LOVE it there. There are all kinds of toy trains running throughout the restaurant. When you order your food you do so via a telephone at your table. The food is your typical burger joint type fair. Their onion rings are soooo yummy. They serve a variety of burgers, with just about anything you can imagine to dress them up. Really greasy, good, umm umm yum food. The part that the kids love best about the place is that your meal is delivered by train. It is a big thrill for the kiddies. Everytime one of the trains pass by, they hope that the flag will drop at our table, and lower our meal down to us. If you bring your young ones to KC, you have to stop in at Fritz's. It is a tradition for kids in the KC area.
